Seemed like the rains just continued at the same pace so we're surprised to see that the accumulation for the month of January was only 16 inches. This is after 3+ months of 30" monthly average so you'd think we would have noticed an improvement in weather. Didn't seem so. Only way to explain it is several nights of clear sky, billions of stars and the full moon was awesome. Followed by overcast and rainy days...
We have been experiencing some really nice sunny days. Of course the first thing heard is, "it's so hot!". Seems we forget the gloomy days without end as soon as the sun shows up. Go figure.
Anyways, we expect to see less rain as we progress towards our summer. Lots of papagayo winds these days, however, and there are reports of up to 15 windsurfers at a time taking advantage of these winds up at the northwestern end of the lake.
Well, today is that day when a lot of people up north are glued to their TVs anticipating a win by their favored football team. Naturally there are various gatherings going on here amongst the gringos who are interested in that sort of thing. We've not decided, or even discussed yet, whether we'll go to one of these gatherings. Don't really care about the game (who's playing?) but we generally don't pass up a chance to socialize with our friends around the lake. Or we might just go kayaking...

So much rain! Rather like our snow and the dreary days. We had a 60 day last week - wonderful! Gives you a taste of spring.
